The Big Conversation on Care | Accessible Version
Following the launch of the Big Conversation online tool, VODG and some of our members have been in touch with the Independent Commission on Adult Social Care to ask for more accessible materials to support everyone to take part.
We have now received an engagement pack for members to use as a workshop tool with anyone accessing the care, support, advice and services you provide.
As part of the Big Conversation, the Commission is keen to ensure as many people are able to participate as possible, including people who may not be able to use the digital platform.
The commission team are very grateful to organisations for helping people with sensory needs and/or a learning disability to engage with the Big Conversation in whatever way they find best.
The initial online tool and Easy Read version are available here and ask: when we are old or disabled, or have a serious illness, who should support us and how?
Answers to the above are invited until the 23rd September. We are expecting further questions, along a similar nature, to follow.
The Commission are aware that the online tool does not suit everyone, therefore the below resource pack includes:
- A discussion guide to help structure conversations
- Engagement pack cards
- A guide on how to use the pack

A template for recording and submitting feedback to the Commission
The materials are intended to be flexible and can be adapted to suit whatever workshops or discussions you would like to run.
Once discussions have taken place, please send the completed feedback templates to [email protected], marking the subject line Organisational workshop response – Big Conversation.
This will help the team make sure your feedback reaches the right part person.
Please return the feedback you gather within the next few months, and ideally before the end of the calendar year.
