Who can Join?
Membership of VODG is open to registered charities and not-for-profit organisations that provide services to disabled people. Our members’ work is focused on enabling disabled people of all ages to live the lives they choose. We believe that an ambitious, trusted and vibrant voluntary sector that works together plays a unique role in achieving this aim.
VODG offers me a great opportunity to meet and discuss sector issues with fellow CEOs. Also, it provides expert knowledge and advice for all the directorates, from finance and people to housing and operations. It's great to be provided with a sector round up and also to be able to contemplate wider issues that VODG can take forward with an impactful voice.
We decided to join VODG a couple of years ago because it was apparent that it was leading the sector in terms of high quality support, influencing, advice, guidance and promoting best practise. The opportunities to connect with other VODG CEOs has been invaluable and truly shows that we are stronger if we work together.
VODG lives up to its values. It's focused on enabling its membership to do a great job, understands the challenges that can get in the way of this, and is supportive and positive in seeking to overcome them.
Whilst many organisations speak about being 'agile' and 'can do', VODG demonstrates these in practice. Pulling together ideas, coalescing people and organisations, and getting on with what needs doing.
I have been a member of VODG in a previous organisation and both the organisation and myself benefitted greatly being able to gain information on current issues within health and social care and be involved in debate and discussions that can influence best practice and inform change. When I became a CEO of the organisation I am currently working for it was key for me to re-join VODG . Not just for me however but all of the senior management team have expressed how useful our membership is and how we are more externally focused than before .
Being a member of VODG enables me to connect with colleagues doing similar work, to share experiences and to problem-solve together. There is a lot to keep up with and VODG helps me do that, and not just me - all of my colleagues across SignHealth too.
