VODG Spotlight on International Recruitment

VODG members are invited to this online meeting on international recruitment, to hear from experts on the rule changes and what they mean for organisations who currently employ international workers or are looking to fill vacancies.

VODG members are invited to this online meeting on international recruitment, taking place online on 11 September, 10.00 - 11.00. Hear from experts on the rule changes and what they mean for organisations that currently employ international workers or are looking to fill vacancies.

Background

In May, the government published a white paper called 'Restoring Control over the Immigration System'. The paper outlined eight proposals, including the end of international recruitment for the care sector.

On 22 July 2025, many of the proposed immigration changes came into effect with significant implications for care and support organisations. There are also key issues that remain unclear, including the proposed change to rules around indefinite leave to remain.

Questions we will consider during the session include:

  • Should providers change their recruitment strategies in response to the changes?

  • What are the key changes to the immigration rules which came into effect on 22 July 2025?

  • What do the changes mean for recruiting/retaining care workers from overseas already in the UK?
