VODG Quality and Safeguarding Network Meeting | September 2025

Booking for the next meeting of the Quality and Safeguarding professional network is now open.

Please note: Some of the topics on the agenda for this meeting are sensitive in nature, involving sexual abuse and grooming. Our focus is on safeguarding around these issues, and we will not be discussing any abuse in detail, but please be aware of these topics when making your booking.

Quality App

Jakki Stevens of Aspens Charities will be presenting her organisation's award-winning quality app and demonstrating the many positive outcomes that have been achieved and also some of the learning experiences that are leading to even more enhancements.

Online Child Abuse Activist Groups (OCAGs)

Ellie Haworth of SCIE will be discussing OCAGs: how can members help people supported protect themselves, and help staff protect the people they support. Ellie will cover legal considerations and Section 42 collaborative working practices.

Safeguarding Case Study

Mike Brent of United Response will be presenting a case study that illustrates what happens when safeguarding practices are tested in a real-world incident.

Testing Policy in Practice

The meeting will conclude with a breakout room discussion on the issues raised in the meeting, in particular how an organisation's safeguarding policy has been tested in practice. Members are invited to share their expertise and experience in this arena.
