Introducing Regional VODG CEO Peer Groups | Strengthening Leadership Connections Across the Country

The purpose of the member-led CEO peer group is to provide a confidential, supportive environment for member CEOs to share insights, experiences, challenges, and best practices with peers.

VODG is pleased to offer member Chief Executives the opportunity to establish regional CEO peer groups—locally based, member-led in-person forums designed to strengthen leadership networks, foster shared learning, and create trusted spaces for strategic discussion.

This initiative builds on the success of the London-based VODG Peer Group for Chief Executives, a thriving and well-attended group that demonstrates the value of CEO-to-CEO engagement within a structured, confidential environment.

A Proven Model: The London CEO Peer Group

The London peer group, established by a collective of member CEOs with VODG, meets quarterly, with members taking turns to host sessions in their organisations. Its core purpose is to provide a confidential, supportive and high‑trust space for Chief Executives to share experiences, challenges, insights, and best practices.

As outlined in the group’s event details, the peer group gives CEOs a platform to discuss:

  • Business strategy
  • Leadership and organisational issues
  • Operational challenges
  • Personal development as sector leaders

By engaging with peers who face similar responsibilities, members gain diverse perspectives and constructive advice that help them make better decisions and drive their organisations forward. The structured session format used by the London group further enhances the quality of discussion. A member (other than the issue‑holder) oversees each session, enabling focused questioning, reframing of issues, and collaborative problem‑solving.

Why Establish a Regional CEO Peer Group?

Regional peer groups will enable VODG member CEOs to:

1. Build Local Leadership Networks

CEOs can connect with peers in their region who understand local systems, commissioning landscapes, and workforce dynamics.

2. Gain Fresh Perspectives

Through shared discussion, problem‑solving, and reflective dialogue, members benefit from the experiences and insights of fellow Chief Executives.

3. Create Supportive, Trusted Spaces

Like the London model, each group is designed to be confidential and member‑led, encouraging open and honest conversations.

4. Discuss Emerging Issues

From regulatory changes to sector pressures, peer groups offer space to interpret developments and share intelligence relevant to social care providers.

5. Strengthen Strategic Leadership Capacity

Peer learning helps leaders refine decision‑making, test ideas, and explore solutions to organisational challenges.

How Regional Groups Will Work

Each regional group will follow the principles that have made the London group effective:

  • Member-led structure – CEOs determine the agenda and rotate hosting responsibilities.
  • Confidentiality – enabling open dialogue on sensitive leadership matters.
  • Structured peer consultation – using a format that supports clarity, exploration, and constructive feedback.
  • Quarterly meetings – ensuring continuity without adding excessive demand on diaries.

VODG will support groups to get started, providing coordination where needed and helping convene the first meeting.

An Invitation to CEO Members

We invite member Chief Executives to consider establishing a peer group in their own region. Whether you are looking to build local strategic connections, gain support from fellow leaders, or replicate the success of the London group, VODG is here to help you take the next step.
