Home Office Invites Input into Fire Safety Regulations

The Fire Safety United at the Home Office invites VODG members to comment on a new draft guide.

The Fire Safety United at the Home Office invites VODG members to comment on a new draft guide titled Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (As Amended) & Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022: Enforcement and Sanctions For Non-Compliance (attached) as part of a new engagement exercise. The 8-page guide is intended to explain to responsible persons the enforcement options and sanctions for non-compliance available under the Fire Safety Order and Fire Safety (England) Regulations. It is intended for use by responsible persons in both England and Wales.   

If members require the documents in another format for accessibility do let the Home Office know as soon as possible.  

Members are invited to note, this is a draft version only and should not be considered government policy. The draft guide should not be used in a practical setting in any scenario and is being shared for the purpose of commenting on the draft to check if the content is unclear, incorrect or could be improved.   

The closing date for this engagement is Friday 10th February 2023. Any responses received after this date will not be considered. All responses should be sent to [email protected] with a copy to [email protected]. Given the short length of this guide, the Home Office expects less time to be required to comment on this draft in comparison to previous texts.   

The Home Office will only accept responses submitted using the official response form. Although general observations can be submitted, the Home Office state that no action will be taken without a clear alternative or change being proposed.
