Job Purpose
The Executive Director of Growth, Giving & Living will be responsible for designing and delivering Hft’s income generation strategy, establishing a plan to hit income targets across a diverse range of income streams, including fundraising and service delivery income, including Housing delivery and income. To do this you will oversee and be responsible for a senior leadership team made up of business development, fundraising and housing professionals, with a performance mindset that ensures that all our people understand their role and are led and managed to deliver high quality delivery and planning on a day to basis. You will work closely with colleagues to map opportunities and to create the processes and systems to deliver effectively across all of your portfolio areas. You will lead by example to instil a culture of continuous improvement that enables the people we support to live their best lives by setting our colleagues up for success. You will have a strong understanding of delivering financially sustainable services, innovation and work alongside our colleagues in Care and Support to bring service models to life. You will be a full member of the Executive team and you will work with Executive colleagues to influence and drive the strategic priorities of Hft.
Responsible For
The post holder will be accountable for the strategic leadership of income generation both through business development and fundraising income as well as the continued income generation and ongoing leadership of the Housing function. You will agree and be accountable for targets and KPIs linked to Hft’s business plan - including supported living, residential, day opportunities and supported employment services. You will ensure that that contracts and CQC standards are met and that income is delivered by maintaining existing contracts and seeking opportunities for growth. You will hold your leadership and management teams accountable for delivering consistent and high standards of work. You will build effective partnerships with central support functions to ensure that your teams are set up for success.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the Business Development, Fundraising and Housing teams, ensuring high performance and alignment with strategic goals.
- Line manage direct reports ensuring that they understand how they and their teams contribute to delivering excellent care and support.
- Work with the CEO and Executive team to set, monitor and deliver annual income and expenditure targets.
- Lead and support your team to embed the skills, knowledge and values that are required for continuous improvement and delivering person-centred and highquality care.
- Lead on creating a strategy to identify voids and underperforming services to redress underperforming financial delivery
- You will ensure that the Housing function delivers high quality housing support and is financially sustainable and is meeting compliance requirements
- To engage with colleagues across Hft to co-create, design and deliver services to enable the people we support to live their best lives
- Ensure systems and frameworks are developed to evaluate the effectiveness of business support, fundraising and housing delivery to measure impact and ensure added value.
- To anticipate the organisations future needs through data, trends and market analysis, working with senior managers to advise on practice that will help to sustain Hft’s growth and success.
- Develop and grow the income pipeline, working closely with Care and Support and finance colleagues’ team to identify sustainable funding for existing and pipeline projects.
- Attend meetings with funders and prospects, and networking events to uncover new opportunities,
- Proactively seek out and identify new trends and developments and makerecommendations to Hft
- Work alongside Board members to maximise income generation opportunities, provide reports and updates where required and support the work of the Finance Committee

- Nurture a culture of compliance, commercial performance, high standards and continuous improvement in leading the delivery of high quality, person-centred, values-based business development and housing activity for care and support services that will improve lives and build independence and they will ensure we have effective systems in place that encourage engagement with the people we support, their families and all other key stakeholders.

- Ensuring that Health and Safety and other regulations are always understood and adhered to within the team.

Financial Sustainability
- Manage the income budget, providing regular reports as required to the Senior Leadership Team, Finance Committee, Operational Delivery Committee and the Board of Trustees. Lead Business Support, Fundraising and Housing teams through the budgeting process.
- Ensure that all activity is delivered within agreed income targets, budgets and to a high standard.
- Ensure income generation complies with legal and regulatory standards.
- Keep up to date with Charity Commission regulations and guidelines.
- Be accountable for business development and for maximizing all income opportunities related to the portfolio
- To maximise opportunities for improving quality and reducing cost.

- Encourage engagement with the people we support, their families and all other key stakeholders to ensure that services improve lives and build independence.

- Partner with key stakeholders to ensure there is a culture of working together toachieve shared aims, with regular review of planned activity as it relates to training.

- To be the income generation expert for Hft, able to report incisively on the quality of all services and plans to drive improvement
- Ensure income generation complies with legal and regulatory standards.
- Keep up to date with Charity Commission regulations and guidelines.
- To role model positive and effective leadership and build a leadership team that

- To work with cross functional teams to build mutually respectful and productive relationships ensuring that other functional teams understand the needs of Care and Support
- Ensure that required best practice income generation and housing materials are accessible, compliant and facilitate Hft to deliver high quality support to the people we support and colleagues
- Set and maintain the standard for the design, delivery and evaluation of high quality practice across Hft.
Person Specification
What you need to be successful in this role:
- Extensive experience of working in a service delivery/fundraising organisation with a track record of improving the income generation
- Be values driven with a passion for empowering the people we support
- Experience of successful service design, service development and business development in a commissioned environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, capable of motivating others and driving change, with extensive experience of being the professional lead in an executive team
- Experience of delivering income targets and budgets to ensure effective service delivery to deliver value for money.
- Have a positive, motivational style, role modelling a growth and learning mindset.
- Able to show resilience and drive transformation at pace.
- Able to think strategically and with strong planning and analysis skills to transform service delivery.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Highly organised and able to manage a broad portfolio of activities.
- Confident working with data and possesses analytical skills allowing you to obtain insights from data.
- Significant experience of negotiating rates and terms of engagement with commissioners and external suppliers
- Demonstrable experience and achievement of working to targets and KPI’s
