VODG members are warmly invited to join us to discuss and inform our response to the Disability Action Plan on Monday 25 September, 11.00 – 11.45

VODG members are warmly invited to join us to discuss and share their key messages in response to the Disability Action Plan, on Monday 25 September, 11.00 – 11.45

This meeting is open to members who are interested in shaping the VODG response to the consultation or drafting their own.

Someone from the Disability Unit will be joining us to outline the consultation and related engagement process.

The consultation covers children, young people and adults and is split into five sections:

  1. How the Disability Unit will work to improve disability inclusion in existing government policies including access to elected office, playground accessibility, emergency planning and resilience work and climate adaptations and mitigations.
  2. The new policies that the Disability Unit proposes to lead, with a focus on issues that fall between different departments, for example Disability Enabled Badge, Special Olympics World Summer Games, addressing access refusals for guide dogs and raising the profile of assistive technology
  3. The task forces that the Disability Unit proposes to set up to increase cross-government collaboration on wellbeing and opportunities for disabled children and support for disabled parents
  4. Actions to strengthen the Disability Unit’s evidence base in the short term, providing a solid foundation for future work
  5. Views on the plans and actions as a whole.
