Local and regional governance in England is changing. Whilst devolution in England is not a new concept, the government's aim is for every place in England to have a Metro Mayor. Alongside this, council boundaries will be reorganised to create new, larger unitary councils. These changes will have an impact on how organisations working with and delivering for councils operate, and the new Metro Mayors and strategic authorities will gain new powers that will intersect with the disability sector.

Nathan Emmerich and Hannah Lazell from SW One Communications, explored what local government reorganisation and devolution are, the timelines and how it might change how VODG members  work with councils and strategic authorities.
