Study into what barriers adults with a learning disability and their carers may experience when accessing respiratory vaccines in England, exploring what the barriers are, what can be done to improve access and what people with a learning disability think about vaccines.
Dear VODG
I am writing to you to inform you of a study that may be of interest to you that is being held at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neurosciences (IoPPN) at King’s College London. The study is looking into what barriers adults with a learning disability may experience when accessing respiratory vaccines in England. The study would involve a small focus group (consisting of around 5-10 people). or 1:1 interviews (if you would prefer) where we would discuss barriers to respiratory vaccination uptake for people with a learning disability and for their carers. The questions asked would be on three main topics:
1) What barriers have you experienced in getting vaccines for the person in your care?
2) What could be done to improve access to vaccinations for people with a learning disability?
3) What do people with a learning disability think about vaccines?
The study would involve one interview with one of the research staff that will last around 60 minutes. The details of the interview, such as the location and time, are flexible and are tailored to the needs of the participants. The interviews can be conducted in person or online over MS Teams or Zoom if this is preferable. There is no requirement to take part in the study, and participants are free to withdraw at any time with no penalty. Participants will be provided with a £20 gift voucher for taking part and will be compensated for travel expenses up to £20 if applicable.
If this is something that may be of interest to you or to members of your group, please do let us know. I can be contacted via [email protected], [email protected] or [email protected]
