Securing the future of social care funding – VODG report calls for national conversation about reform of social care
We need a national conversation about creating a social care future between people who use services, professionals and policy makers. VODG has today published a report that sets out the issues facing disability organisations and why it is of utmost importance that the government puts in place a sustainable funding plan.
In Securing the future of social care funding, VODG is calling on the government to not delay reform of the social care sector any longer and for policy makers to work with the sector to ensure community resources are responsive and preventative.Dr Rhidian Hughes, VODG chief executive, said: “This government has an opportunity to ensure that social care to support people to live independently becomes a national priority. We need a well-resourced and sustainable care and support system and this report sets out the issues we need to have in our national conversation about social care for older and disabled adults.
*Securing the future of social care funding was also used to support VODG’s representation to HM Treasury, submitted in February.
