On 14 August 2024, the WHO Director-General declared the mpox (monkeypox) outbreak a public health emergency of international concern. UKSA’s view is that the potential impact on the health and social care sectors is currently expected to be low, but they are producing additional guidance to help health and care staff manage any cases that do arise.
