“Important spotlight” shines on the untapped potential of assistive technology in social care

A new report by VODG member Hft sets out the untapped economic potential that could be unleashed through a learning disability sector deal to strengthen investment in assistive technology.  As government renews its focus on the industrial strategy, which so far has ignored the disability sector, VODG believes that this new report offers a very timely contribution.

Dr Rhidian Hughes, chief executive of the Voluntary Organisations Disability Group (VODG) said:

“Assistive technology and digital solutions offer an important contribution when developing services for disabled people, not least because they can provide an opportunity for people to have more control over their lives. Hft have produced a timely report which shines an important spotlight on the untapped potential ofg assistive technology.”

Alongside the launch of the report in the House of Lords, Hft will be leading further discussions on the report’s recommendations at VODG’s annual conference on 9 September.
