COVID-19 Spring Booster Vaccinations

Update on the Spring COVID-19 Vaccination programme from DHSC.

Dear all,

I’m getting in touch to share the latest communications on the Spring COVID-19 Vaccination programme.

The most recent UKHSA COVID-19 surveillance report [13th Apr] demonstrates that those aged 75 years and over are still experiencing the highest hospital admission rates with COVID-19 so it is important everyone in this age group keeps their immunity topped up. Booster doses are an important part of maintaining protection from COVID-19, especially if at higher risk from severe COVID-19.

Bookings for the spring booster vaccination are now open to all eligible groups including those aged 75 and over, as well as those aged 5 years and over with weakened immune systems.

Vaccinations began 17 April and we are keen to encourage everyone who is eligible to come forward and strengthen their protection. We would very much appreciate any support you can offer in communicating with your audiences to help encourage uptake of the vaccine.

How you can help:

  • Sharing information about the spring booster vaccination programme via your various channels – such as social media, newsletters, interviews and webinars – to support the flow of credible information.
  • Engaging with your networks to reinforce the importance of taking up offers of the COVID-19 vaccine this spring, and to encourage the cascading of messages to their networks.
Resources:
If you are able to support communications on this, I would be very grateful if you could share an update on your activity with me.

Please also feel free to get in touch if you require any additional resources. I will of course continue to share updates as they become available.

Kind regards,
