The strategy aims to lift 550,000 children out of poverty by the end of the Parliament. Measures include widening eligibility for parents on Universal Credit to claim upfront childcare costs when they are returning to work from parental leave, ending the placement of families in B&Bs beyond the six-week limit and additional funding for the Local Authority Housing Fund from April 2026.
