Focus sharpens on the sleep in payments crisis

The #SolveSleepIns Alliance* sharpens its focus in the long-running campaign during the week commencing 25 June 2018. This step up in activity follows the recent the publication of independent commissioned research which demonstrates how the current impasse is damaging the social care sector. A cross-sector letter to the chair of the Charity Commission has also asked the regulator to intervene.

On Tuesday 26 June delegates are meeting with opposition Labour MPs on the scale of the current challenges. Separately delegates will also be meeting to understand government’s current position.

Two parliamentary days of action will take place on 27 and 29 June. The first, on 27 June, involves a parliamentary ‘drop in’ to enable members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords to meet with provider representatives to explore the issues and solutions. The second, on 29 June, brings members together around the country as they meet and speak with parliamentarians in local constituency offices.

Together it is hoped that these activities will lead to substantial progress being made on the issue.

*The #SolveSleepIns Alliance comprises the Association for Real Change, Care England, Learning Disability England, Learning Disability Voices and VODG.
