Care Committee Member – Independent Expert

We are recruiting for a new Independent Expert for our Care Committee
About Us
At NCHA, we’re committed to delivering high-quality care and support services that make a real difference to people’s lives. Our Care Committee directs and supports the delivery of NCHA's Care and Support services to over 1000 vulnerable adults and young people across the East Midlands.
About the Role
- Location: Nottingham (Hybrid – 2 meetings in person, 2 via MS Teams)
- Commitment: Minimum 4 meetings per year
- Remuneration: £2,964 per annum paid quarterly
- Reporting: Directly to the NCHA Board
Our Care Committee is made up of NCHA Board members and independent experts, who monitor our care and support services. Some of the activities of the Care Committee include but not limited to:
- Assessing our care and support services for quality assurance and regulatory compliance according to the Care Act 2014.
- Reviewing and scrutinising policies, procedures and training programmes according to quality management and regulatory compliance.
- Assessing all operational risks around care and support. This includes the quality or care provided, safeguarding and overseeing the complaints process.

About You
- Experience: You will have current or very recent experience in a regulated property-based Adult Social Care business (for example, supported living or care homes services) maybe as a Quality Lead, Registered Manager, Commissioner, Inspector or similar.
- Knowledge: You will understand the issues facing the housing with care sector, and how boards/sub-committees operate.
- Skills: You will have the ability to interpret reports, communicate clearly, and confidently scrutinize at a senior level.
- Personal Qualities: You will be able to demonstrate your commitment to NCHA’s values, sound judgement, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Other Requirements:
- You will need to be able to attend meetings (minimum 4 per year), commit to reviewing papers in advance, and keep up to date with sector developments.
- You will be willing to accept the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship. This includes meeting the fit and proper persons test under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.
