VODG Chief Executive Special Interest Group | Integrated Support Together with Residential Accommodation

Member Chief Executives are invited to the upcoming special interest group meeting of integrated support together with residential accommodation

We are delighted to invite members to the latest VODG Chief Executive* Special Interest Group | Integrated Support Together with Residential Accommodation, taking place at David Lewis, Thursday 21 May, 09.00 - 14.00.

This VODG Special Interest Group (SIG) brings together members delivering integrated health, care and/or education together with residential accommodation across one or more central locations. Services may typically combine health and care support with education, day opportunities, employment support and leisure.

Many organisations in the group have long-standing roots. Some were established over a century ago – often in rural settings – and were historically described as “campuses” or “congregate settings”.

Today, these services have evolved into inclusive, community-focused environments. Supporting disabled children and adults with a wide range of needs and abilities, members enable people to live as independently as possible while benefiting from on-site or closely connected health and care support, specialist resources and access to meaningful social and community activities.

Approach

The group is made up of chief executives and senior leaders from member provider organisations. It currently meets in person three times a year, with each member hosting a visit to their organisation in turn. Meetings include structured peer learning and exchange.

Examples of recent activity

  • Developing constructive dialogue with the Care Quality Commission to inform improvements to statutory guidance, including Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture.
  • Peer learning across a range of shared challenges and opportunities, including redevelopment of historic sites, optimising environmental and sustainability outcomes, and strengthening relationships between third sector and public services.

Current developments

As the group moves into its next phase, members will work together to explore how impact is measured at both organisational and collective levels. This will include sharing outcome areas and key indicators and considering how a collaborative approach can be further developed to better articulate the role and value of these services across the diversity of the health and social care ecosystem.

The primary objective of our group is to create a supportive and secure space where Chief Executives and senior leaders can come together to exchange ideas and insights around these forms of provision.
