Warm Home Discount

Information from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero about how to ensure those eligible for the Warm Home Discount are receiving it.

27 Feb 2026

We have been asked to share some information with you by colleagues in the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero about the Warm Home Discount.

The Warm Home Discount is a government scheme that gives eligible households a one-off £150 discount on their energy bill. Energy suppliers have written to all eligible households to make sure this support is getting to those that need it most, but some people may have to contact the Warm Home Discount helpline to confirm their details. The deadline for this is 27th February. We would be grateful if you can get the message out by sharing with those your organisations support. More information and suggested copy is below.

We have also produced a British Sign Language video to explain what action is needed and why, which you can link to on social media or e- newsletters.  https://youtu.be/dWE7yAgPMtA

The Warm Home Discount is a one-off £150 discount off your energy bill this winter.

Every billpayer on means-tested benefits and named on their electricity bill now qualifies. It’s a one-off payment applied directly to your electricity account as a credit.

We’ve sent letters to all eligible households to make sure this support is getting to those that need it most. Some people may be told to contact the Warm Home Discount helpline to confirm their details so they can get this support.

If your letter asks you to take action, remember you must call the helpline listed in your letter before the 27 February.

If you cannot hear or speak on the phone, use Relay UK and dial 18001 then 0800 229 4325.

If you’ve not received a letter but think you may still be eligible for the discount, then please check your energy account to make sure you haven’t already received it or go to gov.uk to check if you can get the support.

Kind regards
