Confirmed Speakers

10.00 - 11.10 (Opening Plenary)

A Vision for the First 100 Days of a New Government

Our panel of experts will share their thoughts and recommendations for the first 100 days of the new administration. They will discuss the priorities that should be focused on by disability and third-sector organisations. The panel will feature Richard Humphries from the Health Foundation and Fazilet Hadi from Disability Rights UK, with the names of other panellists to be announced soon.

11.30 - 12.30 (SLOT A)

A1: Patterns and Progress of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in the Workplace

This interactive session aims to promote Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion by bringing together experts to discuss the latest insights on EDI leadership. It offers attendees an opportunity to explore new ideas and their implications for practical application in their respective organisations.

A2: Mind the Gap | How to Proactively Manage Your Fee Shortfall

Have you successfully closed the cost gap in fees this year? What was the typical uplift? What is the ‘average’ gap? Local Authorities have been inconsistent in their response to care providers’ cost increases, including April’s National Living Wage uplift.

Come and join a lively discussion led by procurement expert Christoph Marr on ways to bridge the cost gap for your organisation. In this session, we will explore successful negotiation approaches that have worked for other VODG members. We will also discuss the importance of your supply base in creating a bridge between the two parties once fee negotiations have been concluded.

13.30 - 14.30 (SLOT B)

B1: Cyber Resilience

This session will provide space for members to explore their organisation’s cyber resilience, their experience of cyberattacks and the lessons that can help charities embed effective cybersecurity.

B2: Diversity Deficit | The High Cost of Exclusion

Cohesion delivers recruitment and workforce solutions for social care that improve results.  Every year, they complete thousands of exit and retention interviews with front-line care workers, scrutinising the data annually for trends and indicators, including equality and diversity metrics. While Cohesion knows there has not been a radical change in the last twelve months, their analysis will share what stakeholders in VODG member organisations can do to impact retention and the top reasons why care workers choose to stay or leave their jobs.

14.30 - 15.30 (SLOT C)

C1: Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) | Our Shared Leadership Challenge

In this engaging and thought-provoking member-led session, we will delve into the topic of ESG and explore what brings us together and differentiates us in our ESG journeys. By sharing our knowledge and experiences, we can develop a more robust understanding of ESG and how to contribute to positive change. We will reflect on our progress during the session and explore the current ESG landscape. We will discuss third-sector providers' unique challenges and explore how they report on ESG.

C2: Getting Transitions Right for Young People

VODG members National Star and Together Trust have conducted new research to improve the support provided to young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) after they leave education. The research highlights the importance of smooth transitions and identifies gaps in the current support system for children and adults. The study calls for action by the next government to address these gaps and improve the overall support for people with SEND.

16.00 - 16.45 (Closing Plenary)

A Look to the Future | Disability Support in an AI World

Our closing plenary will feature experts working on the cutting edge of AI and its potential impact on disability care and support. We will focus on exploring the opportunities and risks associated with this technology and discussing the future direction leaders in this field may consider.
