Pledging for Health Charter comes to an end
From today (16 January) online pledges for the Health Charter will come to a close. The Health Charter, which was co-produced by VODG and its members, Public Health England and sector stakeholders, helped social care providers to improve the wellbeing of people with learning disabilities, and help reduce inequalities in health and social care.
Originally launched in 2014, the charter was revised in 2017 and social care providers were encouraged to publicly pledge their support to tackle health inequalities experienced by people with a learning disability.
Funding to manage Health Charter pledges came to an end in 2017. VODG has now closed online pledging and would like to thank all providers that have committed their support.
VODG continues to encourage organisations to access resources, include the health charter, on tackling health inequalities via this link. All data associated with the Health Charter has been deleted.
Alongside this notification to social care providers, local council and health commissioners are invited to review contracts that reference the health charter and the ways in which providers evidence how they are tackling health inequalities.
