Resources to support disabled people into work in social care

There are around 7 million disabled people of working age in the UK, 3.8 million of whom are out of work. Many of these people are able to and want to work, and can make a positive contribution to the social care sector.

We know creating disabled-friendly recruitment and retention practices can help services to:

  • widen the talent pool of recruits
  • create a diverse workforce that reflects the people supported
  • bring additional skills and experience to your organisation.
Skills for Care have worked in partnership with a number of sector organisations, including VODG, to produce guidance with practical steps to help employers attract, recruit and develop disabled workers as well as a resources to tackle some of the common myths about employing disabled people.Find out more about this programme of work on the Skills for Care website.
