How can we support people to have a bigger say in the funding of care and support services?
The sector has long highlighted the issue of squeezed funding, increasing demand and workforce challenges and the impact these have on the lives of older and disabled people. But never has there been a strong, sustained effort to strengthen the voice and independence of people who require care and support, their families as well as fellow citizens to lead such campaign efforts.We are clear that in learning from Every Australian Counts the success of the campaign was that it was led by citizens, backed by providers and charities. To what extent could that model be applied to our sector?VODG chief executives and senior directors will be meeting on 19 March (afternoon) to discuss these issues.
