Developing the social care workforce to build the right support for people with learning disabilities and/or autism
Skills for Care and VODG are working together to support the workforce development requirements for Building the right support. A series of person-centred example are being developed to set out the skills and knowledge needed to support people with learning disabilities and/or autism, who display or are at risk of displaying behaviour which challenges. The examples will aim to cover a range of individuals and situations with the aim for them to be used by commissioners and adult social care providers when planning support options.The work is being co-produced and we welcome the involvement of people who use services, families and providers. A series of events are planned with the first on 12 October in London followed by further events in November in the South West, North East and North West to refine and test out the emerging resource.
