Coronavirus (COVID-19) Special Brief – 26 May 2020

Tuesday 26 May

Since the beginning of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we have aimed to offer resources, insights and forums that support our members through the outbreak, and beyond. And while we strive to continue that offer, we now believe that there is an opportunity to support the development of wider strategic proposals to help shape the future of our parts of the sector.
Our vision is for an ambitious, trusted and vibrant voluntary sector that works to enable disabled people to live the lives they chose. In recent weeks, we have been hosting conversations with VODG member chief executives as part of our 'Shaping the future' project. These conversations have provided an opportunity to reflect on experiences of the last few months and to start thinking to the future. The outcomes of these conversations are being written up and emerging themes identified.
On 10 June, we are bringing together VODG member chief executives to share the feedback gained from those conversations and collectively add, challenge and amend the themes we have collated. A link to register for this event is included below. We look forward to welcoming many of you to this meeting.

Coronavirus (COVID-19): key messages

Last week, we issued a briefing to media contacts on coronavirus (COVID-19) testing for disabled people using social care services. This was based on analysis of the current testing programme and how it relates, or indeed doesn't relate, to disabled people and the workforce that supports them. We also drew upon insights from members. There's been early interest in our briefing and we'll be following up with contacts this week. If you would like to contribute to this piece of work, please get in touch by emailing [email protected]
The Association of Directors of Adults Social Services (ADASS) this week published its summary of findings from a survey of it members. The survey was undertaken following providers’ concerns that the £1.6billion central government funding made available to local government, has not reached them. Links to  summary reports are included below. We responded to the findings and you can read our statement here.
The Care Provider Alliance, of which VODG is a member, has launched two surveys for care providers - one on business continuity and one on insurance and indemnity. Please see below for links to the surveys should you wish to respond.
All feedback, please email [email protected]
