David has worked in the voluntary sector for over 35 years, both overseas and in the UK. This has involved Director level appointments with a number of national charities, including disability charities such as Leonard Cheshire and Guide Dogs for the Blind. David also holds a number of non-executive roles including as Chair of a local Multi-Academy Trust that currently includes four special schools amongst its number.
As a strong believer in being ‘stronger together’ David is keen to support all initiatives that help disability charities learn from each other and collaborate as much as possible. By supporting VODG to help create these initiatives, David sees the role as helping to maximise what can be achieved for beneficiaries across the whole of the UK.
David is currently Chief Executive at National Star, a charity providing residential and day education and personal development opportunities as well as short-term and long-term accommodation for young people with complex disabilities.
