Thank you for attending the VODG equity, diversity and inclusion across VODG membership panel meeting, which took place Wednesday 20 October 2021.
This was the second meeting which brings together colleagues with interest and expertise on EDI issues. The meeting followed an earlier mandate from members for a VODG EDI group to convene and to share ideas, challenges and opportunities around EDI. The focus for this group, reflects VODG’s membership, and is centred on the support and provision of services to disabled people.
Building on the first meeting we further explored interest in members coming together to share intelligence to help take stock on EDI progress across the group. James Watson-O’Neill (SignHealth) shared the questions that had been used across a number of voluntary sector infrastructure bodies, and there was further discussion about what would be helpful. A small group will be convened to build up the survey for wider comment. To join the working group please email us.
We identified a number of areas for further discussion and exploration, and members were encouraged to step forward to identify and co-design, under the VODG umbrella, future sessions. This includes case studies, focused topic areas as well as identifying outside speakers. The first such session will be led by Tracey Hammond (KeyRing) and Lisa Govier (Dimensions) who will be facilitating a discussion on the EDI aspects of supporting disabled people. Please come forward with suggestions to [email protected]
We also noted that VODG’s Learning and Development network is having a focused meeting on the workforce development considerations around EDI, Tuesday 7 December 2021, 9.30 to 11.30.
