Active Prospects supports people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, acquired brain injury and those with complex needs and behaviours that challenge, to live full and aspirational lives.
They are increasingly supporting people through the Transforming Care programme directly from hospital placements or following points of crisis in other provider’s service provision. Their expertise in shaping care positively around the person including those with complex needs is gaining significant recognition.
Their team of 250 trained and experienced staff support 300 people to have choice, freedom and control over their lives. They have a strong portfolio of properties that offer residential care, supported accommodation and independent living options. They provide just the right amount of care, so that people can live as independently as they are able, with support on hand when they need it.
They operate a short breaks service in Redhill, providing support to young people aged between 18 and 30 years who have a learning disability. Young people benefit from time away from home and a chance to mix with peers whilst families get a break from the demands of caring which helps families stay together.
A transition service, also in Redhill offers young people the chance to learn the skills to live independently for a period of up to two years and supports them to find the right living options when they are ready to move on.
Active Prospects re-branded in 2016 and with a new CEO and Senior Management Team, has exciting plans to develop community-based services alongside our accommodation-based services. This includes community ‘hubs’ offering a range of wellbeing services, social activities, skills training and therapeutic activities. They also plan to launch a number of social enterprises such as a café, horticultural and recycling project, that offer the opportunity for people to gain new skills and experience and employability skills such as team work, punctuality and reliability.
During 2017, they will launch a Supported Internship Programme in partnership Surrey County Council’s SEND Programme and local colleges (East Surrey College and Nescot) which will see us supporting young people with learning disabilities to gain practical skills and work experience. Interns will work across Active Prospects in a range of fields from care and support roles, maintenance and office-based roles for up to a year with support to progress to paid jobs. They seek to significantly extend our employability services over the next three years
