RCHL in the Sunday Times Top 100

" ... we had come 36th overall, at our first time of trying, it was a real ‘punch the air’ moment."

Like many Third Sector organisations we channel most of our energy into going about our business professionally and to a high standard be it service provision or support to our staff. It is not too often that we pause to reflect on what we have achieved, even less so to compare ourselves with other organisations to see how we fare.

However, having had consistently positive feedback through our annual staff surveys over the last few years we thought we would have a go, and if you are going to have a go we thought we may as well go for the big one, The Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies To Work For.

To hear we had been selected was great, to then find out we had been rated as a ‘2 Star Outstanding’ employer was even better and when we  found out on the night of the awards that we had come 36th overall, at our first time of trying, it was a real ‘punch the air’ moment.

Gaining a place in the Top 100 has had an extremely positive effect on staff across RCHL; staff loved that we put all their names in a hat to choose who came along to the black-tie awards event, staff teams are wanting their photos taken with the trophy and staff are saying that they are now even more proud to work for us. And that is the point, we didn’t do it for the gong but to improve staff’s sense of pride in RCHL, and it seems to have worked.

One down side is it has messed up my Strategic Panning...I hadn’t anticipated us getting it until 2015!!
